Unveiled for the 2021 model year, the G82 M4 coupe and G83 convertible introduced a bold design paradigm dominated by tall, vertical kidney grilles and sculpted aerodynamic bodywork. Under the hood, BMW installed the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter S58 inline-six engine, producing 473 horsepower in standard guise and expanding up to 503 horsepower in Competition trim. The convertible G83 variant made a return to a lightweight multi-layer fabric soft top, reducing upper body weight and lowering the overall center of gravity.

For the first time in M4 history, buyers could select the intelligent M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which includes a driver-selectable pure rear-wheel drive mode for track drifting. Augmented by available carbon ceramic brakes, carbon bucket seats, and advanced adaptive chassis controls, the G82 generation sets extraordinarily high dynamic standards across the competitive high-performance sports coupe market segment worldwide.
