BMW iX I (I20) gallery (2021–present)
The brand's flagship electric SUV on a bespoke platform: a Carbon Cage body structure, a hexagonal steering wheel and up to 701 km of range after the update.
Built at Dingolfing since July 2021, the iX is BMW's technology flagship and the first BMW designed around an electric powertrain rather than adapted to one. Its Carbon Cage body structure uses carbon-fibre in the roof, pillars and sides. It matches an X5 for length and width, an X6 for roof height, and wears X7-sized wheels.
The cabin introduced curved 12.3-inch and 14.9-inch displays with iDrive 8 and a hexagonal steering wheel. Two synchronous motors with cobalt-free rotors provide all-wheel drive, with 76.6 kWh and 111.5 kWh batteries offered. The 2026 update brought the xDrive45, xDrive60 and M70 xDrive and raised range to 701 km WLTP. Euro NCAP awarded the car five stars.
