Introduced in 2017, the G32 generation marked a pivot for the 6 Series nameplate, shifting from low-slung coupes to a practical executive liftback designated as the 6 Series Gran Turismo. Designed as the direct successor to the 5 Series GT (F07), the G32 was built on BMW’s CLAR architecture. Engineers achieved a significantly sleeker profile, reducing height while extending body length to improve aerodynamic efficiency and rear head clearance. The spacious interior inherited the long wheelbase of the short-chassis 7 Series, offering executive-class rear legroom and versatile cargo capacity.

Power was supplied by a range of turbocharged four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions. A 2020 mid-cycle update introduced 48-volt mild-hybrid technology across all powertrains to enhance efficiency and throttle response. Standard self-leveling rear air suspension, optional two-axle air suspension, and integral active steering provided outstanding ride composure over long distances. BMW concluded G32 production in 2023 without a direct successor.
