Introduced for the 2011 model year, the second-generation Bentley Continental GT represented an extensive evolution of the original grand tourer formula. While retaining an updated version of the D1 architecture, it featured completely redesigned bodywork with crisp character lines created using superplastic aluminum forming technology. The range comprised both the fixed-roof coupe and the GTC convertible. In addition to the upgraded 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine delivering between 575 and 642 horsepower, Bentley introduced a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 507 horsepower, which provided improved agility and fuel efficiency. All variants gained a responsive eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel-drive split of 40:60. Performance derivatives included the athletic V8 S, the Speed, the motorsport-inspired GT3-R, and the ultimate 710-horsepower Supersports. A mid-cycle refresh in 2015 introduced subtly revised bumpers, side vents, and interior refinements, sustaining strong global demand across all major luxury markets.
