Unveiled in 2005, the first-generation Audi Q7 (chassis code 4L) launched Audi into the full-size luxury SUV segment. Utilizing the PL71 platform shared with the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg, the Q7 measured over 5.08 meters in length, accommodating three seating rows for seven occupants. Its flowing, imposing profile set a high bar for luxury utility vehicles.

Chassis features included permanent quattro all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension offering up to 240 mm ground clearance, and engines spanning 3.6 FSI, 4.2 FSI V8, 3.0 TDI V6, 4.2 TDI V8, and the monstrous 6.0-liter V12 TDI producing 500 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque.
