Toyota Supra Follower Arriving ASAP: President
Back in December, we informed that Toyota was thinking over two more sports models to go along with its extremely successful GT 86 (Scion FR-S), and now we can approve that the Japanese brand will be constructing a successor to the Supra as fast as it can.
Head engineer of the 86, Tetsuya Tada, currently confirmed that the GT 86 is the first of three fresh sports vehicles coming from Toyota. Unfortunately though, we may be waiting at least 5 years before we see either of them on sale. The good news is the bigger chance car which is the follower of the Toyota Supra will be coming first.
When communicating in Germany at the current start of the Toyota 86 Experience, Tada approved that president Akio Toyoda has asked him to “make a successor to the Supra as soon as possible.” The Japanese brand also acknowledged that constructing sports models is very important to the automaker’s strategy.
As for the lower-end vehicle, Tada left the door open to speculation informing that a successor to the MR2/MR-S could be arriving in the shape of a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports model or probably even a convertible.
