Tow Rates Dispute Continues
Ford, Chrysler and General Motors create profitable business out of light-duty pickup vehicles, but they ignore previously agreed measuring tests and towing capacity standards.
The procedure was discussed and decided in cooperation with SAE International and Toyota is the only brand to agree so far. So, what is the reason Detroit 3 confirmed that they are going to continue ignoring those standards?
Those rates will lower the respective trucks tow ratings, and no one wants to lose sales by taking the plunge first. That can be only suggestions. GM and Chrysler think so, but Automotive News informs that Ford understood the standard would be applied to only new or restyled cars starting in 2013.
