10 Million Hybrids Were Sold By Toyota
It has passed 20 years since the launch of the first Prius. Now Toyota proposes 34 hybrid offerings.
The automaker has lost its name of the best-selling producer around the globe when VW, its main rival, has got that name. It managed to deliver almost 100,000 cars more in 2016. The producer from Japan is still dominating the hybrid vehicles market with cumulative global sales of 10.05 million cars as of Jan 31.
Everything began together with the birth of the 1st gen Prius. It was the world mass-manufactured hybrid passenger car that was launched 20 years ago in December. The offering has survived 4 generations and became the 1st car to be constructed on the TNGA.
The car under consideration helped the producer to reach the milestone of 10 million hybrid units only 9 months after HV sales of the brand reached 9 million units last April. The producer offers 34 various hybrid units now. There are submodels and variants in more than 90 countries and regions around the globe.
