Revamped Tesla Model Y Unveiled for 2025
New Look and Features
Tesla's best-selling Model Y receives a significant refresh as it enters its fifth year on the market. The updated model made its debut on Tesla's Chinese website with plans for sale in China starting in March.
The exterior of the Model Y showcases a redesigned front end, featuring a full-width light bar reminiscent of the Cybertruck. The headlights are repositioned lower into the bumper, and the front hood has also been altered. At the rear, a full-width light bar with the Tesla script enhances the overall appearance. Additionally, new wheel designs and color choices are available.
Sleek Interior Upgrades
Inside, the new Model Y adopts a cleaner aesthetic with influences from the updated Model 3. The changes include new seats, a redesigned steering wheel, and an ambient light bar. Rear-seat passengers also benefit from a separate screen. Interestingly, the turn signal stalk remains unchanged.
Enhanced Performance and Competition
Mechanically, the updated Model Y shares similarities with the Model 3. Tesla has fine-tuned the suspension to provide improved ride comfort, addressing one of the previous version's main shortcomings. On the Chinese testing cycle, the new Model Y has demonstrated better efficiency and range figures. These updates come at a critical time for Tesla, as it faces increasing competition from Chinese upstarts and traditional automakers.
