Recall of Chrysler''s 702K Minivans and SUVs
Chrysler recalls a host of vehicles again because of the issue with th eignition switch.
The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country minivans from the seven-year-old and five-year-old model years are recalled together with Dodge Journey SUVs from the four-year-old and five-year-old model years. Totally, 702,578 cars are under the issue. Nevertheless, many of the vehicles have already been recalled once because of the same problem.
The ignition switch can move into the “accessory” or “off” position if driving a rough road. This can make the engine to shut off. All these things result in disabling the power brakes, airbags and power steering. The company has already replaced the wireless ignition node in the cars under the issue earlier. Now the producer will have to replace the whole ignition switch unit.
The brand advises its customers to get rid of everything handind from the key rings in order to remove overweights on the ignition switch before the cars will be repaired. Chrysler wants to start repairing cars from the 2008-2009 model year this Aprl. The 2010 cars will be fixed this August.
