Unveiling the BMW M3 CS Touring: A Delicious Forbidden Fruit
A Tempting Treat: The BMW M3 CS Touring
Unfortunately, the highly anticipated M3 Touring is not available in the United States. Consequently, the M3 CS Touring, which builds upon the excellence of the M3 CS Sedan and M4 CS Coupe, will not be arriving stateside as well.
More Power, More Practicality
The M3 CS Touring shares the same all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission as its counterparts. Its twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine generates an impressive 543 horsepower, making it 20 hp more potent than the regular M3 estate. Additionally, the CS Touring retains the rear-wheel-drive mode for those who enjoy spirited driving.
A Lighter, Faster Wagon
By utilizing carbon fiber components, the M3 CS Touring sheds weight. Although not as extreme as the CSL variants, this special edition manages to remove 33 pounds, resulting in a curb weight of 4,078 lbs. This weight reduction enables the CS Touring to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it fractionally quicker than the standard model and the M5 Touring.
Aesthetically Enhanced
The M3 CS Touring boasts a sleek carbon fiber body kit, an aggressive front-end design, and striking yellow daytime running lights. It features 19-inch front and 20-inch forged wheels, available in gold bronze or black. However, carbon-ceramic brakes are an optional extra.
Selective Color Options
While the regular M3 Touring offers a wide range of color choices, the CS Touring is limited to just four options: British Racing Green, Laguna Seca Blue, Sapphire Black, and Frozen Solid White. The CS Touring also includes a glossy black roof, rear spoiler, and red accents to complement the kidney grille and badging.
Inside the CS Touring
The interior of the CS Touring features carbon shell bucket seats, which are exclusive to this special edition. The shift paddles, interior trim strips, and parts of the center console are also adorned with carbon fiber.
A Limited Delicacy
Although BMW has not disclosed the exact production quantity, history suggests that the CS Touring will have a limited production run, similar to its predecessors. Pricing in Germany begins at €152,900 ($159,000) and deliveries are scheduled to commence in March.
In the near future, BMW will be introducing another Competition Sport model, the M2 CS, which is expected to be available in the United States.
