Second generation BMW X1 Surprised Spies during Its Testing on the Nurburgring
A diligently camouflaged prototype of the second generation BMW X1 has been caught while testing on the Nürburgring.
It is already obvious that the new offering looks better than its predecessor. The innovated compact crossover is distinguished with styling cues which can be seen on other X-badged offerings from the automaker’s catalogue. Technically, it will be significantly other than the outgoing vehicle since the innovated X1 will be equipped with the UKL front-wheel drive platform. It originated from the 2-Series Active Tourer.
Nevertheless a FWD configuration will be regular, select motors will be available with an optional xDrive four wheel drive arrangement. Get ready, the producer is also preparing a more spacious variant with prolonged wheelbase. The last one will grant room for two more back seats for children only.
Karim Habib, the company’s chief of design, stated earlier that an “early version” of the innovated X1 will debut in summer of 2015. Therefore, there are chances that he was speaking about an online presentation of a concept which will be presented in the metal at the Motor Show in Frankfurt this September. At the same time the production variant is scheduled to start its sales in the next year.
