LAPD evaluates the BMW i3
The Police Department of Los Angeles is putting the i3 from BMW to the test.
The automaker has given an i3 electric car to the Police Department of LA for a year. It was the first American test of the new car in an authority fleet. The test model was introduced with the prominent LAPD black and white colouring. There also is a light bar on the roof of the car. The i3 has undergone tests for the whole year. It also was present at different public events.
It was the initiative of the police department to evaluate the car under consideration. It wants to add 100 EVs in future. The i3 produces 170 hp and torque of 184 pound-feet thankfully to a hybrid-synchronous electric motor. This motor can boast 80-100 miles of driving without emissions.
The manager of BMW i for the company in North America is sure that this initiative proves that the model under consideration is compelling, practical and sustainable. Thankfully to its innovative styling and construction (the car is made from leading-edge materials), the BMW i3 is just perfect. It has the technology-driven research philosophy of the Los Angeles Police Department. The manager is sure that their cooperation will turn into a valuable learning experience for both sides.
