BMW i8 is Already Sold Out for 2014
The BMW i8 hybrid supermodel is sold out until the beginning of 2015, despite the deliveries won’t start until the next year.
The £110,000 carbon-fiber model is enhanced by 1.5-liter petrol motor and electric engines and provides a 0-62mph time of 4.3sec despite averaging 114mpg on the official combined fuel-efficiency cycle. However, BMW's marketing chief, Ian Robertson, informed that pre-orders have been already started for the whole line-up of 2014 production.
"We are satisfied with the interest to the current vehicle, which will be placed at the center of what BMW is all about - performance and sustainability," announced Robertson, who did not reveal how many i8s will be constructed in 2014.
However, Robertson did unveil that BMW has been inundated with test run requests for the BMW i3 city model. The demand is huge at the current rate of uptake considering the test drives. BMW insiders suggest it could take up to six months from ordering a vehicle to the final delivery.
