BMW i8 Spyder might delay until 2017 or 2018
Admirers of a production variant of the BMW i8 Spyder concept have to wait as it won’t come out that soon.
Sources confirm to Motoring that the production variant will not be released till 2017 or 2018. The magazine informs that no new BMW offerings will be presented in 2016 and the i5 expected to come out in 2017 can overcome the model under consideration.
Nothing is known about the reason of the delay. It was speculated that the model was not created to be a roadster or the automaker is going to upgrade it with the identical powerplant as the i8 Safety Car from Formula E.
Obviously, an easier explanation also has right to exist. According to one of the insiders, the i8 has good sales, soothe range does not need it right now.
The i8 Spyder concept was first presented almost four years ago. The automaker has shown an updated variant of the concept not long ago. This happened at the Consumer Electronics Show.
