BMW Stays Committed to Gas-Powered M3 Despite Electric Version

In an interview with CarExpert, BMW M vice president Slyvia Neubauer confirmed that while the company is expanding its range of all-electric M Performance models, they also believe in the coexistence of other driver technologies. This includes hybrid and conventional drives.

With demand for electric vehicles stabilizing, it makes strategic sense for BMW to retain the gas-powered M3 in their lineup. Not every M3 buyer may be inclined to switch to electric, even with the performance advantages it offers.

According to Neubauer, BMW is fully prepared for the future and will cater to all customer needs in any market, as long as regulations permit. The upcoming electric M3 is expected to debut in 2027, followed by a new gas-powered M3 in 2028.

Although BMW has not officially confirmed this information, it is important to note that the next generation of gas M3 will not feature a manual transmission, as the company plans to phase it out.
