BMW Creates Concept Vehicle Specially for Video Games Lovers
Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo is much more than just a video game.
It creates real racers through the Playstation GT Academy in cooperation with Nissan each year, and now BMW is unleashing a teaser image showing a concept vehicle created especially for the game.
“Gran Turismo and BMW share a genetic passion for vehicles – both modern and classic,” BMW design chief Adrian van Hooydonk informed: “I’ve followed this racing game franchise from its beginnings and am extremely excited about the improved visual realism of Gran Turismo 6 and its fabulously authentic driving experience.”
The Vision Gran Turismo, as it’s named, comes 15 years after the first game was unleashed. For BMW, improved involvement presents an opportunity for BMW to market itself more to automotive lovers. Surely, for those playing the game it’s a chance to “drive” vehicles that don’t ever really exist outside of car shows.
That goes without saying, the usual specifications would be more-or-less meaningless in this case. Notably, the Vision Gran Turismo concept seems to share some of its styling features with the approaching i8 plug-in hybrid sports vehicle.
