BMW 2 Series Will Update its Names
The BMW 2 Series range will get an upgrade for the nameplates.
There was a report not long ago which stated that the BMW 3 and 4 Series variant names will gain an upgrading for the naming convention. The German company will make the same with the 2 Series. In such a way the circulating 228i becomes the 230i and the M235i becomes the M240i. The change of the names will occur along with an innovated generation of powertrains from BMW. The B48 will replace the 2.0-litre N20 and the B58 will replace the famous 3.0-litre twin-turbo N55 powertrain.
There is still no information about the performance boost of these innovated engines. Though, it is possible that BMW will try to boost performance along with the change of the names. The 10-15% enhancing should be expected on the V6 B58 engine. The innovated powertrains will not be launched for the production until 2016.
