2017 1 Series Sedan from BMW will Feature FWD
The automaker is almost ready with its 1 Series Sedan. Paparazzi have caught the coming-soon offering on their cameras.
The model was previewed by the Compact Sedan concept. It has got a famous grille flanked by huge headlamps and round fog lights. The vehicle benefits from a short trunk and small rear doors providing access to a cramped seat at the back.
The producer does not reveal details. However, we know that the model under consideration will be equipped with the front-wheel UKL platform. This unit underpins all vehicles from the 2 Series Active Tourer to the Mini Cooper. Both model’s rivals – the Mercedes CLA and Audi A3 – ride in FWD platforms and proved to be successful.
Nobody knows what engines will be used for the car. Judging from the previous reports, there will be an assortment of V3 and V4 motors available for the 1 Series Sedan. Rumours suggest that entry-level offering will ride with a 1.5-litre TwinTurbo Power V3 unit producing 134 hp and torque of 162 pound-feet. Meanwhile, vehicles placed at the top of the range might benefit from a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo V4 motor generating 228 hp and torque of 258 pound-feet.
The 1 Series Sedan is going to be presented in 2016.
