Audi Q6 Concept will head to the Motor Show in Frankfurt
According to a report, Audi is going to bring a Q6 concept to the Motor Show in Frankfurt scheduled for September. The name of the concept has not been confirmed yet.
The Q6 was teased in March. Now it is going to take the shape of a fully-electric sporty and appealing crossover arranged for a launch in 2018. It will be prefigured at IAA in September, but the automaker will probably take a different nameplate compared to the production variant. As the producer says, it will be packed with utility.
The report also specifies that the concept will be originated on the second-generation MLB platform. The Q6 will have a never-seen-before extremely aerodynamic design. Volkswagen’s premium brand has already announced that the 2018 Q6 will come with a minimum range of 310 miles (or 500 km). The automaker will manufacture at least 10,000 vehicles per year. Rupert Stadler, the producer’s CEO, assures that anything less than this number will not be a viable business case.
The concept is envisioned as a Tesla Model X rival. It is expected to have hydrogen and plug-in hybrid variants, but only after the fully-electric offering comes out. It was not stated if a conventional-powered Q6 is possible.
