2014 Audi A8: Additional Fresh Matrix LED Headlights
Audi has informed that its 2014 A8 sedan will receive the brand-new “Matrix” LED headlights, a technology that’s takes the high-beam function to a top level.
Additionally, the fresh headlights work in a pair with a camera to block out light at oncoming and preceding cars while continuing to light up other zones. They can also flash an alarm light when pedestrians are noticed. Finally, the lights also have a cornering option that targets the emphasis of the beam towards the direction of the bend. Each headlight is formed from 25 high-beam LEDs settled in groups of 5 per reflector. According to the German brand, the system is activated at 19 mph on the highway and 37 mph on city streets.
“The closer an upcoming car gets, the more LEDs are deactivated or dimmed,” informed Audi in a press release. “When there is no more oncoming traffic, the high-beam headlights continue full power, featuring the sections that had been off before. The light that the driver sees is always vivid, homogeneous and much more effective than that provided by competitors’ mechanical dipping systems.”
