Skoda Kodiaq Gains Laurin & Klement Trim and 272 HP Plug-In Hybrid
The Skoda Kodiaq crossover is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its debut. Over this time, the model has sold 1.2 million units across 70 markets worldwide. To mark the milestone, the Czech brand has prepared two major updates for the second generation of the crossover: the return of the top-of-the-line Laurin & Klement trim level and an upgrade for the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The Laurin & Klement version, which was first offered on the first-generation Kodiaq, stands out with distinctive exterior trim. This version can be recognized by silver roof rails, signature L&K badges on the front fenders, as well as body-colored bumpers and side sill trims instead of the standard unpainted black plastic. Standard equipment includes matrix headlights and exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels designed specifically for this trim level. A panoramic roof and adaptive cruise control are offered to buyers as paid options.
The interior of the Laurin & Klement version is trimmed in genuine leather combined with gloss black inserts and aluminum accents. The front seats are equipped with a massage function. The equipment list also includes three-zone climate control, a Canton sound system, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring sensors.
Alongside the launch of the new trim level, Skoda has updated the Kodiaq plug-in hybrid. The combined output of the powertrain has increased from the previous 204 to 272 hp. The gain was achieved by boosting the 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine from 150 to 177 hp, using a more powerful 117 hp electric motor, and recalibrating the control unit. The traction battery capacity remains unchanged at 25.7 kWh (of which 19.7 kWh is usable). This reserve is enough to cover more than 100 kilometers purely on electric power. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, and the hybrid variant is exclusively front-wheel drive.
