Pre-sales of the Jetta M6 electric sedan opened in China starting at 80,800 yuan

The FAW-Volkswagen joint venture has announced the start of presales for the Jetta M6 electric sedan in the Chinese market. According to the publication CarNewsChina, the base price of the brand's first production electric vehicle is 80,800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 1 million rubles at the exchange rate at the end of September 2026.

The Jetta M6 is a mid-size sedan that slightly exceeds the traditional Volkswagen Jetta in its dimensions. For the body, the manufacturer has prepared six color options: blue, white, silver, purple, gold, and black. The cabin features a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster with a minimum of analog buttons. Buyers have a choice of three interior color schemes: white, gray, and purple.

Three fixed trim levels are offered to choose from. The entry-level 465 Pro version is priced at 80,800 yuan (about 1 million rubles). It is equipped with a 152-hp electric motor and a 42.9-kWh battery with a rated range of 465 km on the CLTC cycle. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.3 seconds, average power consumption is 10.5 kWh per 100 km, and 17-inch wheels are fitted. The equipment list includes adaptive cruise control, an automatic parking system, and surround-view cameras with an underbody view ("transparent chassis"). The output of 152 hp is notable because it allows the sedan to fit within the preferential recycling fee limits in the event of potential import into Russia.

The intermediate 555 Max modification, priced at 90,800 yuan (1.14 million rubles), is equipped with a 51.9-kWh battery (555 km range), a 194-hp motor, 18-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and front seats with ventilation, heating, and power adjustments. The top-of-the-line 555 Ultra version for 99,800 yuan (1.25 million rubles) additionally offers Level 2 Assistance autopilot with a NOA navigation system for highways and city streets, seats with massage and lumbar support, illuminated exterior door handles, and 256-color ambient interior lighting.

Journalists emphasize that the cost of the electric sedan in China is comparable to prices for the Lada Granta in the Russian Federation, where the "Comfort" (90 hp) and "Praktik" (106 hp) versions are sold for a comparable 1.1–1.2 million rubles. The Jetta brand was launched by FAW-Volkswagen in 2019 and initially produced only gasoline-powered cars for the local market. In 2026, the brand set a course for global expansion and electrification. In Russia, the brand officially sells the VA3 sedan and the VS5 and VS7 crossovers, while the previously announced concept electric crossover X conceded the status of the first production electric car to the M6 sedan.
