Peugeot Unveiled 500-HP RCZ Vision Electric Coupe Concept With Solid-State Battery
Peugeot has unveiled the RCZ Vision concept ahead of the 2026 Paris Motor Show, reviving the sports coupe nameplate as an all-electric grand tourer. The original RCZ was manufactured by Magna Steyr from 2009 to 2015 as an alternative to German sports coupes. While this new showcar is not yet confirmed for serial production, it serves as a design and technology manifesto showcasing the French brand's future direction.
The exterior introduces Peugeot's new "Feline Future" design language, founded on five principles: freedom, courage, elegance, inner force, and instinct. The concept retains the Zagato-inspired double-bubble roof that defined the original model, paired with muscular shoulders and a low-slung stance. The lighting signature reinterprets the brand's three-claw motif with ultra-slim horizontal elements at both the front and rear. Other exterior features include an active rear spoiler that deploys at speed, staggered wheels measuring 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, and paint formulated with recycled aluminum rather than solid metal. In terms of dimensions, the coupe measures 4.65 meters long, 1.94 meters wide, and 1.35 meters tall, giving it proportions significantly larger than its predecessor.
Power comes from an all-electric powertrain generating 500 horsepower, though Peugeot has not confirmed whether it uses all-wheel or rear-wheel drive. The drivetrain is paired with a 1,000-volt electrical architecture and a solid-state battery developed with Factorial Energy. The battery pack is just 110 millimeters (4.3 inches) thick, helping lower the car's center of gravity while delivering an estimated range of up to 373 miles (600 kilometers). Using fast charging, it can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in 10 minutes. Aided by aerodynamic efficiency, energy consumption is projected at 11.5 kWh per 100 kilometers.
Inside, the four-seat cabin previews the next evolution of Peugeot's i-Cockpit. It introduces the Hypersquare steering control, an unusual rectangular unit paired with steer-by-wire technology that eliminates any mechanical connection to the front wheels and adjusts steering ratios based on vehicle speed. This steer-by-wire hardware is slated for production in the next-generation E-208. The concept also incorporates brake-by-wire technology, transparent Micro LED displays, and Level 2++ automated hands-free driving. The interior is trimmed in Alcantara, recycled leather, and machined aluminum in a light-blue theme, complemented by an analog clock created with French watchmaker SERICA and folding rear seats.
