2027 Nissan Z Arrives in the US with Fresh Styling and New Manual Option for Nismo
- The 2027 Z Nismo introduces a six-speed manual transmission and front brake rotors inspired by the GT-R.
- Z Sport and Performance models feature an updated front design.
- New Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint is available exclusively with a black roof.
Following the recent update of Japan’s Fairlady Z, Nissan has unveiled the 2027 Nissan Z for the US market, incorporating a series of enhancements. The non-Nismo trims receive a fresh front bumper with a split retro-inspired grille, paying homage to the classic Datsun heritage.
In addition to exterior changes, the Z Sport and Performance trims gain a striking Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option, reminiscent of the Unryu Green shade introduced earlier in Japan. This vibrant color is paired solely with a contrasting black roof, echoing the style cues of the 1970s S30-generation Z. Another notable change is the replacement of the front Nissan emblem with the iconic Z logo.
Nissan emphasizes that the redesigned front end improves both cooling efficiency and aerodynamics. Enhancements to the Z Performance trim include redesigned 19-inch forged black wheels, a tan-colored interior, and an upgraded 15-watt cooled wireless charger. The suspension has also been refined with larger monotube shock absorbers to elevate ride comfort and handling precision.
Manual Transmission Returns to the Nismo
The flagship Z Nismo model now offers enthusiasts the option of a six-speed manual gearbox, paired with revised tuning of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine for sharper throttle response. The car’s Active Sound Enhancement and Noise Cancellation systems have been retuned to produce a sportier exhaust note when Sport mode is engaged.
To complement the manual transmission, the Nismo benefits from front brake rotors borrowed from the GT-R, delivering enhanced stopping performance. Weight-saving measures have trimmed 19 pounds, prompting suspension adjustments and a reduction in steering rack friction by 20%. Inside, a redesigned gear lever and the updated wireless charging pad complete the package.
Across the entire 2027 Z lineup, an improved fuel tank design ensures consistent fuel delivery during aggressive cornering.
The updated Nissan Z will be showcased at the upcoming New York Auto Show before arriving at dealerships this summer. While pricing details remain under wraps, the outgoing base model started just above $44,000, with the top-tier version priced around $67,000.
