Lexus GR GT3 Prototype Roars Impressively During Laguna Seca Testing

The eagerly awaited Lexus/Toyota GR GT3 racing vehicle is generating significant excitement. Initially revealed as a concept at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, the production model is slated to make its road debut around 2026. In the interim, enthusiasts can revel in the captivating sounds from the prototype as it undergoes testing at Laguna Seca.

Photographer Alec Gamino shared an 8-second video on Instagram capturing the GR GT3 prototype speeding through Laguna Seca's legendary Corkscrew before exiting the frame. The footage highlights the deep, powerful notes of what appears to be a robust twin-turbocharged V-8 engine as the car accelerates out of sight. Check out the impressive audio:

While this prototype may not produce the high-pitched screech associated with the V-10-powered LFA, it is expected to feature a tuned version of the RC F GT3’s 5.2-liter V-8 engine. This enhancement is likely to boost horsepower beyond the already impressive 500 horsepower of its predecessor.

Global Testing Grounds

Previous spy photos and videos have revealed the GR GT3 being tested on renowned circuits such as the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps. It’s exciting to see the supercar being evaluated in the United States as it moves closer to its commercial release.

Looking Ahead

Rumors suggest that the GR GT3 race variant could make its first appearance later this year, preceding the street-legal version expected in 2026. As Lexus’s flagship model, the GR GT3 is anticipated to retail for over $100,000 upon its release.
