The Tasman has been spotted in the deserts of Al Qudra, United Arab Emirates, conquering challenging sand dunes. A teaser video showcases its impressive capabilities, including its square wheel arches, Telluride-inspired vertical headlights, and practical rear bumper steps for easy cargo bed access.

Rigorous Testing

Kia has left no stone unturned in testing the Tasman, conducting over 1,777 different types of tests and completing more than 18,000 rounds of testing. Although initially targeted for select markets, including the Middle East, Africa, and Australia, the company remains tight-lipped about its global availability.

Expected Features and Debut

The Tasman is rumored to come equipped with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, offering both 4x4 and 4x2 configurations. Unconfirmed details suggest a maximum payload capacity of 2,200 pounds and a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, making it a formidable contender in its segment. According to reports, the Tasman is set to make its world debut at the Jeddah International Motor Show in late October.

Kia's Truck Legacy

While the Tasman may be Kia's first global pickup, the South Korean automaker has a long-standing history with trucks, with the Bongo model being sold since 1980. The Tasman marks a significant leap forward for Kia in the realm of versatile and capable vehicles.
