Toyota Corolla gets 300 hp version

Toyota actively develops a sporty version of the Corolla hatchback given the prefix GR (Gazoo Racing) in the name.

Japanese publication Car Sensor says that this modification of the car will be equipped with a 300-horsepower engine.

It will be an upgraded 1.6-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine from the Toyota Yaris GR hatchback, but with more increased engine power.

The powertrain works with a six-speed manual and all-wheel-drive system. Toyota Corolla GR will also get Torsen differentials on all axles, improved suspension with sport-tuned steering, plus aerodynamic body kit.

This car may debut next year. Competitors of Toyota Corolla GR will be Honda Civic Type R, Renault Megane R.S Trophy, and Hyundai i30 N.
