So Fast! 277.9 MPH From Koenigsegg Agera RS
A Koenigsegg Agera RS set a record on a closed 11-mile section of Nevada highway.
It recorded a 2-way average top speed of 277.9 mph. The vehicle had 284.55 mph in one direction and 271.19 mph in the other.
The car that recorded the top speed number was the same vehicle that smashed Bugatti’s 0-400-0 record. The owner contacted Nevada authorities and managed to close the highway for the speed runs. His vehicle is a production-spec unit equipped with a 5.0-litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder producing 1,360 hp and torque of 1,011 lb-ft.
Michelin provided tyres for this speedy run. The tyres were holding fine at 280+ mph. No excessive wear or heat was produced.
