Proper AMG Treatment For Mercedes-Benz's High-End Roadster

The next-gen SL from Mercedes-Benz is being created by AMG.

The latest report suggests that the SL will have the same underpinnings that the AMG GT sports vehicle. The producer is aimed to create a high-end roadster sportier in comparison with the ongoing offering. This platform change will also give AMG an opportunity to take over lead responsibilities from the German automaker. Thus, the automaker will have bigger economies of scale in development, engineering operations and manufacturing procurement. Therefore, it will become less expensive to manufacture and AMG will have an opportunity to develop the AMG GT chassis along with the hardcore Black Series offering.

The latest SL should come out in 2019. The vehicle will boast a front-longitudinally mounted motor and transaxle placed at the back for distribution of weight. This powertrain layout will come in change to the more conventional E-Class-based set-up that is used in the SL now.

The roadster should boast an aluminium body structure. It also features the carbon-fibber torque tube developed by GT. On the top there will be a regular soft set-up. With its help teh vehicle will be lighter.
