Mercedes-Benz has to Present Diesel Information to EPA

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) wants Mercedes-Benz to introduce information about the emissions from certain of its cars.

This request is a result of a class-action lawsuit. It was filed by Hagens Berman, a law firm, sometime earlier this month. This happened in the New Jersey District Court. According to the lawsuit, Mercedes-Benz is fooling its clients with unreliable representations of the BlueTEC diesel cars. We remind you that the German company claimed them to be the cleanest and the most advanced cars around the globe.

Daimler’s spokesman assured that the automaker is cooperating with the data request. Sure, he noticed that the brand conforms to all the norms and rules. The EPA made a stress on the fact that it has not opened an investigation yet, it just wants the facts.

The lawsuit accuses the brand of knowingly programming its clean diesel cars to emit dangerous and illegal levels of NOx, just like in the VW diesel scandal.

The German producer noted that a system treating exhaust fumes might operate at a reduced effectiveness level under certain conditions. In such a way condensation build up in the exhaust set-up will be prevented. We have checked that this is fine with the law.
