Revamped Line-up, Two New Platforms and a Crossover from Aston Martin

Andy Palmer, the CEO of Aston Martin, shared some details about the automaker’s plans for the closest future.

Giving an interview to Automotive News Europe, Palmer reminded that they went bankrupt seven times in the first century. That is why they are making sure that this will not repeat in the second century. Aston Martin is developing a crossover which will probably be ready in four years. The model has been previewed in March in Geneva together with the DBX concept.

The car will have an innovated platform. It will share it with a new sedan and with a third model with no information about the last one given. The three offerings will stand near the restyled variants of the current vehicles. By the way, they are going to receive a new sports platform. The innovated architecture will be presented in September of the next year. A successor for the DB9 is likely to be presented too. The offering might get a DB11 moniker. This will stress that the vehicle is a completely new one.

Moreover, we heard last week that Palmer told about an electric variant of the Rapide. It is possible that the model will be launched with a four-wheel drive and a combined output of 1,000 hp (or 745 kW). If production of the electric model is green-lighted, its starting price will be around £200,000 ($298,255 / €271,465). The vehicle’s range is expected to be more than 200 miles (or 322 km).

Earlier, the automaker has announced the Ford-sourced twelve-cylinder engine which will be joined to the manual transmission. As to future offerings, they will boast AMG-sourced engines.
