NHTSA investigates the Issue with 2014 Ford Edge Sport

The 2014 Ford Edge Sport is being inspected by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because of potential defect with its 22-inch wheels.

According to the reports, the rims can break during driving. We strongly doubt that there will be found a volunteer to experience this at freeway speeds. The problem is serious and that is why NHTSA is dealing with it. It was reported, that there are 20,000 cars which can be affected with the issue.

There was a case which provoked investigation of the federal agency. A driver appealed last November with a report. He assured that the right-front corner of his Edge unexpectedly dropped. This led to veering the vehicle off the road into a field. Luckily, no one was injured during this accident. Despite this, if the problem exists, the chance of carnage remains high.

NHTSA has found during their investigation after the accident that the vehicle’s wheel had split into two pieces. The crossover was brand new when the crash happened. There were almost 8,500 miles on its odometer.
