Mercedes took over Audi in Selling Luxury Cars

Mercedes has beat Audi in the luxury items sales race.

Mercedes has sold 1.19 million vehicles since the beginning of this year. It superseded Audi by 10,880 deliveries. Thus, the automaker became the second best-selling luxury company around the globe. Mercedes still comes after BMW. The last one has sold 1.21 million cars since January 2015. BMW and Audi want to match the sales growth of Mercedes-Benz in China. The automaker is benefitting from the sales of SUV offerings and C-Class sedan that have increased in this country. Actually, the company was the only one of the three manufacturers that has seen growth of sales in this country in August.

Speaking about an annual basis since 2010, we know that Mercedes has not outsold Audi. According to experts, the first automaker will gain an advantage of the second. They also say that it will be staying at such position during the next two years.

In August BMW sold 135,735 cars. That makes a 7.6% increase. As to sales of Audi, they went up by 2.7%. The automaker sold 128,650 vehicles. Meanwhile, Mercedes skyrocketed to an 18% increase. It sold 139,802 cars. Deliveries in China jumped by 53% to 32,763 vehicles for this automaker when BMW had a slight decrease of 0.9% (34,168 units) and Audi saw a drop of 4.1% (45,196 cars).
