Mercedes-Benz Wants to Phase Out 5.5L Twin-Turbo V8
Mercedes does not want its 5.5-litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine to power the nameplates since the next year.
The innovated 4.0-litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine was presented in the Mercedes-AMG GT. Moreover, it is going to replace the 5.5-litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder unit. A version of the innovated 4.0-litre eight-cylinder engine will also be inserted in the new C63. The last one is able to produce more that the current 5.5-litre mill.
The GLE63 coupe variant will be equipped with the 5.5-litre eight-cylinder engine seen at the 2015 Auto Show in Detroit. The engine’s final complication is going to outfit the S-Class convertible. The engine’s manufacturing should be expected till the end of the decade.
