North America Requests Access to Honda Civic Type R
The first batch of Civic models shipped to North America more than ten years ago remains the only one to date.
An America-based car fan used an opportunity of Honda Civic Type-R premiere at Geneva 2014 to create a web sign list gathering those who want to see new hatchbacks with turbo engines from the brand in their region. What the author of the petition did not know is that his initiative will take more persistence than he thought.
The thing is North America market does not support the body platform of Honda’s novelty. The cost of reengineering the body to fit the local specifications will almost positively be too much to handle. Nevertheless, more than 9,000 Americans have already signed the petition.
