New Mercedes SL400 Featuring a Powerful Six-Cylinder Engine
Mercedes-Benz can now show off its SL400 equipped with a twin turbo six-cylinder engine.
The novelty is meant to occupy the niche of SL350 in the domain of convertible cars. Both its powerplant and output copy the one of E400 with 328 hp and torque of 354 lb-ft developed on a six-cylinder engine with the displacement of 3.0 litres. Thus, SL400 can boast a modest power advantage over SL350.
Gearbox solution seems to be a fresh one, for the brand decided to equip the new V6 with seven speeds instead of standard nine available currently. It takes SL400 slightly more than 5 seconds to make a sprint to 62 mph with a 0.7-second advantage over SL350.
