Concrete-Conquering SUV: New Idea of Mercedes
Ever more arguments are found within Mercedes to venture diversification of SUV line-up to separate an off-road direction from street vehicles.
April auto show in China hosted a presentation of brand new Concept Coupe SUV from the German brand meant to create an open market rival for fellow-country BMW X6. Distinguishing feature of the concept is its clear city orientation.
Head of Research and Development department of the company has mentioned that Concept Coupe might be full-fledged produced to start a line of on-road SUVs. Another likely candidate to join the new direction is GLA-Class in coupe modification which already sells in Europe and will debut in North America in autumn.
Direct German competitor of Mercedes also follows the trend. BMW joined the trend of coupe crossovers when it presented X6. Next endeavour of this kind is planned with X4 sharing engineering DNA with X3. Moreover, speculations have it that X2 is also possible to be added to coupe-crossover array.
Currently trendy modernization of the existing vehicles is the main focus of German carmakers. Mercedes was rather thoughtful regarding a decent counterpart for X6 which had been eagerly bought for six years. Next coupe-crossover solutions of the former are expected to arrive more quickly.
