20 Million Vehicles Built at American Site of Honda

Honda, which went against the trend of avoiding North American production sites, has built 20 million cars there to date.

The first American plant opened by the brand was a site in Ohio established in early 80’s. It mostly dealt with Accord models and has contributed 10 million cars ever since. After the initial success the Japanese company built three more plants situated in Ohio, Alabama and Indiana. Nowadays the total output of the American production facilities of Honda constitutes 20 million units.

Last year the company managed to reach a 7.5% growth over 2012 having built more than 1.3 million cars. Four U.S. assembly lines supply 11 Honda models and three other special plants deal with manufacturing details of powertrain. During the time of their operation the part plants based in the United States have produced almost 24 million motors and more than 18 million transmissions for Honda vehicles.

Marysville, Ohio, will soon become the location of the fifth production facility of Honda. The company decided to devote it to Acura NSX construction.
