Mercedes V-Class and Vito Have a Chance to Arrive in the US

The next-gen Mercedes-Benz V-Class minivan and Vito production version could be heading to the U.S. in 2015.

The new variants of both cars will be going on sale in spring 2014 in Europe and the German company is going bringing the rear-wheel drive cars to America. If the V-Class does end up in the U.S., it would be the only rear-drive available in the segment, which consists of the Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest, Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Town & Country. However, it will cost more and it would be one of few luxury minivans offered in that market.

Notably, Vito would be a smaller commercial model aimed to fight with the Ford Transit, Nissan NV 200 and the Chevrolet City Express. Both cars are constructed on the same rear-wheel-drive platform and all-wheel drive is offered as an option. 4- and 6-cylinder motors are available in Europe.

The V-Class is substituting the Viano and will offer a more vehicle-like appearance and upscale interior.
