The second-generation Volvo S60 was launched at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Built on the Ford EUCD / Volvo P3 platform, it featured a sleek 4-door sedan body with sculpted lines, dual front light accents, and introduced Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake. A long-wheelbase variant (S60L) was manufactured specifically for the Chinese and US markets.

Engine offerings spanned 1.6-liter four-cylinder T3/T4 petrol engines up to five-cylinder T5 and 3.0-liter T6 inline-six units delivering 304 hp. Diesel power included D2 through D5 turbodiesel engines. High-performance S60 Polestar editions reached up to 367 hp with Öhlins dampers. A 2013 mid-cycle redesign adopted single-housing headlights, a wider grille, TFT instrument cluster, and new Drive-E powertrains.
