Volvo 960 I (960) gallery (1990–1997)
First generation of the flagship Volvo 960 executive range (964/965) produced from 1990 to 1997.
The flagship Volvo 960 debuted in late 1990 replacing the 760. Produced in 4-door sedan (964) and 5-door wagon (965) body styles, it introduced an all-aluminum 24-valve 2.9-liter Modular inline-six engine (B6304FS producing 204 hp) coupled to an electronically controlled Aisin automatic transmission.
A comprehensive 1994 mid-cycle update fitted sleek headlights, new bumpers, revised front steering geometry, and a Multi-link II independent rear suspension with a transverse composite leaf spring across all body styles. In late 1996, the line was rebadged as the S90 and V90.
