The Volkswagen Tiguan II (AD1) launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It marked the brand's first crossover built on the MQB modular matrix. The exterior adopted clean horizontal shoulder lines, growing wider and lower while reducing total curb weight by 50 kg. In 2017, Volkswagen introduced the Tiguan Allspace (BW2) with a 215 mm stretched body offering optional seven-passenger seating.

Engine selections offered 1.4/1.5/2.0 TSI petrol engines (up to 320 hp in the performance Tiguan R), 2.0 TDI diesels (115–240 hp), and an eHybrid plug-in version. Equipment highlights included Digital Cockpit screens, Area View cameras, and IQ.Light matrix LEDs following the 2020 facelift.
