Volkswagen Taos I (CP) gallery (2020–present)
The Volkswagen Taos is a compact crossover introduced in 2020 positioned below the Tiguan for North American and global markets.
The first-generation Volkswagen Taos compact crossover with body code CP was revealed in October 2020. Engineered on the proven MQB A1 platform, the Taos fills the slot beneath the Tiguan in Volkswagen's SUV family across North America, South America, and select regional markets. Exterior styling features clean lines, a wide front grille with an integrated LED light bar, and protective body cladding. Inside, the cabin offers class-leading rear legroom, a digital instrument cluster, and Volkswagen's MIB3 infotainment hardware.
Engine availability varies by region, featuring a 1.4-liter TSI four-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged unit producing 158 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive variants utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission and a torsion-beam rear suspension, while 4Motion all-wheel-drive models feature a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic paired with a multi-link rear suspension setup. A mid-cycle refresh introduced updated front bumpers, revised lighting elements, and interior refinement upgrades.
