A budget-friendly subcompact family car lineup that became the long-running market best-seller.
Lada Granta was engineered on a cost-optimized evolution of the Kalina platform and entered production in late 2011 carrying the VAZ-2190 factory code. Initially offered strictly as a four-door notchback sedan, the lineup grew in 2014 with the introduction of the stylish five-door liftback (VAZ-2191) assembled in Izhevsk. In 2018, Granta underwent an extensive mid-cycle refresh featuring Lada's corporate X-face design language (Granta FL), which absorbed the former Kalina hatchback, wagon, Cross, and sporty Drive Active trims. The car is powered by 1.6-liter naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engines, including 8-valve units (such as VAZ-11186 and the upgraded 90-hp VAZ-11182), 16-valve variants (VAZ-21126 and VAZ-21127), and factory CNG bi-fuel options. Drivetrain setups include 5-speed manuals, 5-speed AMTs, and 4-speed Jatco hydraulic automatics. Renowned for its resilient suspension, practicality, and affordability, Granta remains in continuous mass production at the Togliatti plant.
