VAZ 2104 I (2104) gallery (1984–2012)

The VAZ-2104 station wagon was developed on the platform of the VAZ-2105 sedan and entered production in late 1984 as a modern replacement for the VAZ-2102. It utilized the traditional Soviet rear-wheel-drive platform with double-wishbone front suspension and a live rear axle on coil springs. The five-door wagon body featured reinforced roof stampings and folding rear seats to provide a large and practical cargo area. Over its long production lifecycle, the model was fitted with various carbureted and fuel-injected petrol engines ranging from 1.3 to 1.7 liters (such as the belt-driven VAZ-2105, VAZ-2103, and VAZ-21067), along with a rare diesel variant, the VAZ-21045, powered by a 1.52-liter naturally aspirated VAZ-341 engine. Transmissions included 4-speed and 5-speed manual gearboxes. Late models adopted interior elements from the higher-spec VAZ-2107 and electronic multipoint fuel injection complying with Euro-2 and Euro-3 emission standards. Production was later transferred to RosLada and IzhAvto, where it continued until 2012. The vehicle was widely exported to European, African, and Latin American markets under names such as Lada Riva Estate, Lada Nova Combi, and Lada Kalinka.
