The second-generation Meriva introduced innovative rear-hinged FlexDoors and elevated family versatility to the compact MPV segment.
Unveiled in 2010, the Vauxhall Meriva (B) grew into a larger and more sophisticated mini-MPV utilizing components from GM's global compact architectures. Its defining engineering feature was the rear-hinged 'FlexDoors' system, opening independently to an angle of 84 degrees to provide effortless cabin access. The cabin featured an upgraded FlexSpace seating mechanism and the modular aluminium FlexRail storage system. The petrol engine range centred on a 1.4-litre unit available in naturally aspirated 100 hp or turbocharged 120 hp and 140 hp configurations. Diesel options originally encompassed 1.3-litre and 1.7-litre CDTi units, succeeded in 2014 by GM's whisper-quiet 1.6-litre CDTi EcoFlex engine. Gearbox options included five-speed and six-speed manuals alongside a smooth six-speed torque-converter automatic. A 2014 refresh introduced LED daytime running lights, a revised front grille, and IntelliLink infotainment before production ended in 2017.
