The Toyota Yaris Cross subcompact urban crossover (XP210 series) debuted in April 2020, designed jointly by Toyota's European and Japanese styling centers. Built upon the modular TNGA-B architecture, the vehicle features a lightweight, high-rigidity chassis with an elevated 170 mm ground clearance. The exterior presents a distinct crossover identity highlighted by vertical LED daytime running lights, flared squared-off wheel arches, and an optional contrasting black roof color scheme. The versatile interior features a 40:20:40 split-folding rear bench, a height-adjustable dual-deck cargo floor, and Toyota Smart Connect infotainment.
Engine choices comprise a 1.5-liter M15A-FKS Dynamic Force three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 120 horsepower mated to a Direct Shift-CVT, and a Toyota Hybrid System II option linking a 1.5-liter M15A-FXE engine with electric drive for 116 total system horsepower. Hybrid models offer an intelligent E-Four all-wheel-drive system using a dedicated rear electric motor for extra all-weather traction. In 2023, Toyota introduced a higher-output Hybrid 130 trim (132 hp) alongside a sports-tuned GR Sport edition, equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
