Produced from August 2001 to November 2005, the sole generation of the Subaru Traviq (F69 series) was an OEM supply version of the first-generation Opel Zafira A built at General Motors' Rayong facility in Thailand. Marketed in Japan, it featured Opel's innovative 'Flex7' seating layout, allowing the third-row seats to fold completely into the rear floor. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.

Power came from 4-cylinder Ecotec petrol engines: the 1.8-liter Z18 (125 hp) and 2.2-liter Z22 (147 hp) paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Suspension tuning was optimized by Porsche Engineering. Sales ended in late 2005. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
