The Subaru Lucra high-roof micro-hatchback was manufactured from 2010 to 2015 based on the Daihatsu Tanto Exe.
Produced from April 2010 to May 2015, the sole generation of the Subaru Lucra (L455F/L465F series) was an OEM supply model based on the Daihatsu Tanto Exe. Designed with emphasis on interior legroom and 90-degree wide-opening side doors, it was powered by 660 cc 3-cylinder KF petrol engines (58 hp naturally aspirated or 64 hp turbocharged Custom R trims). The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
Fitted with a CVT transmission across FWD and 4WD drive layouts, a 2012 mid-cycle update restyled the front fascia and improved fuel efficiency before production ceased in 2015. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort.
